Here's a little bit of what's happened...
- Mom left the 25th and that was also my first day living in my dorm room. I did nearly cry when she left and to even think about that she's hundreds of miles away from me makes me want to cry right now... So we'll not go into that.
- My room is starting to feel more like home. I love my bed and I finally got all my furniture rearranged to my liking.
- What I don't particularly like is our hallway (2nd south) is the only hallway in all the dorms on campus that contains all girls (that's an engineering college for you). It's a brand new thing they're trying this year at Riddle. I don't like it not for the fact that I don't get to see boys as often (that isn't the case as they love to visit our hallway) (and it's an engineering college so you always see boys), but that I'm forced to live and room next to a total of 30+ girls. I don't have anything against girls, they just tend to get really catty and I'm usually the victim of being picked on. But so far, so good.
- My roommate is very nice, though she's out quite a lot. We more or less have our own schedules and friends at this point.
- Speaking of friends, I made quite a few over the weekend. Coincidentally, most are from Daytona State College's gamer club, but a few are from the game club and anime club here at Riddle.
- Classes have been alright. I'm very bored in my calculus class because I took AP Calc last year (but got a one on the AP test [AP was kicking my butt senior year]) and they're teaching it as though no one knows any calculus, which, of course, some don't.
- Though I took AP physics last year, I'm looking forward to my physics class this year since it'll be taught calculus-based and not algebra-based like at my high school (I'll finally understand physics!). And the teacher is incredibly enthusiastic, so that makes it a bit more fun.
- My computing for engineering class.... Oh how I love it <3 :) It's pretty much all about computer programming for engineers, and I absolutely love programming and all this computer mumbo-jumbo, so it's a great class (well at least the lab part of it).
- I have two hybrid courses, which are apparently hard on your course load. I mean, I can see why, but they aren't presenting too much of a problem. For those of you not familiar with what a "hybrid" course is, it means I go to class at two different times, usually on two different days, for the same course. The only difference is one is a lecture hall setting and the other is a class or lab. So far, so good, I would say.
- The last thing I can think to talk about is how much I love the chairs at this school. No more awful desks in high school. Most of the chairs here have great back support, the chairs in the rooms are rolling chairs, and most classrooms have tables with cushioned chairs. I love college
I'll post some pictures up soon, so you guys get to see my beautiful dorm room. Like I said before, I quite like it.
